Why do you need a coolant Filter?

• Filters casting sand from motor.
• Filters schlag from coolant galleries
• Filters 'stuff' that dirties up the coolant (OK well we don't know what the 'stuff' is, but we cut open the first SP Diesel Coolant Filter after 5000 miles, when it clogged, and found lots of that 'stuff')
• Because in addition to your oil filter, your air filter, your fuel filter, you need another filter to keep it at an even number.  If you have a bypass oil filter, then you need one because you are a filtration junky like us.  If you have a transmission filter already but not this, then shame on you, better order it quick before they find you.
• Because it looks cool and people will say, "what is that attached to your truck...that looks like a small oil filter for your truck"

On Closeup you can easily see the particles in the towel, plus, the change in coloration of the towel in general.  The coolant in the system of this particular vehicle was bright green, not what you see here!

Installation will take the average person less than one hour and it is not difficult at all.

This close up shot shows the location of the tap in tee to the degass bottle.  The outlet from the engine block runs up under the alternator, behind the powersteering hard line just to the right and back to the filter head.  Not shown in this photo is the shutoff valve, which is located on the engine side (in) on the filter head.
